SVG, PNG or PDF? Choosing a QR Code File Format
By QRVane · Updated
All three formats carry the same code, but they behave differently when scaled.
SVG: best for print
SVG is vector, so it stays perfectly sharp at any size, from a business card to a billboard. Send SVG to your designer or printer whenever you can.
PNG: best for screens and documents
PNG is a fixed-size image. Export it large enough: at least about 300 pixels per inch at the printed size (a 5 cm code needs roughly 600 px). Never enlarge a small PNG: it blurs the edges.
PDF: easiest to hand over
A PDF is handy for emailing a print-ready code or placing it in office software. Avoid JPEG, whose compression adds noise around the modules.
Whatever you choose, scan a printed proof before sending a large order.
